Dr. Dexter Archer

Dexter Archer, V.M.D. CCRP, is proud to be the veterinarian at Healing Hands 4 Paws. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with honors. The first three years after graduation, he worked at a general practice and a specialty animal hospital. This allowed him to work alongside different board-certified specialists in various veterinary fields. This included surgery, oncology, and internal medicine. Dr. Archer eventually became the director of the emergency critical care department.

In 2000, Dr. Archer moved to Long Island, NY. Here, he became the medical director at a small animal hospital in Oakdale, NY. After a year, he decided to start his own animal hospital. With a location in Riverhead, NY, Dr. Archer built up his hospital for over six years, and he built lifelong relationships with countless customers and their pets. In 2007, Dr. Archer purchased his second veterinary hospital, Shirley Veterinary Hospital.

Since that time, Dr. Archer continues to expand his role as a general practitioner. Now, he specializes in canine rehabilitation, wound management, dentistry, and pain management. In 2013, he became a certified canine rehabilitation practitioner (CCRP) at the University of Tennessee. He is passionate about physical rehabilitation for pets, and he's seen the benefits in his own pet patients.

With this in mind, he opened Healing Hands 4 Paws. This successful rehabilitation center started in Shirley, NY. He has since expanded his influence with a new office in Commack, NY. Now, Healing Hands 4 Paws can help more customers and their pets across the state.

Outside of work, Dr. Archer lives with his wife, Tara, in Riverhead, NY. He loves spending time with his three children, and he's an avid golfer. In general, Dr. Archer loves spending time outside fishing among other outdoor adventures. He is also active in the community, and he serves on numerous boards and committees to serve the public. Every year, Dr. Archer attends three or four continuing education seminars, and he is dedicated to excellence in veterinary medicine and canine physical rehabilitation.
